Viber for B2B: Dead Channel or Free Lunch?
22% reply rate on Viber DMs with zero competition — plus honest limits: no parsing API, thin tooling, opaque bans. Sniper rifle, not machine gun.
Everyone says Viber is dead for business. Our tests disagree.
Mention Viber in any marketing chat and you'll get laughed at. "That's where my grandma sends stickers." Fair. But here's the thing about channels everyone abandons: the ones who stay get the whole room to themselves.
We spent three weeks testing Viber for B2B outreach. The results were weird enough to write about.
Why Viber might be a free lunch
- Zero competition. Our test messages landed in inboxes where the last business message arrived... never. Compare that to Telegram, where every active user gets 5–10 cold pitches a week.
- Open rates are absurd. We measured 68% read rate within 24 hours on Viber vs 31% on Telegram cold outreach. Smaller sample, sure — but the gap is too big to ignore.
- The audience has money. Viber's core CIS audience skews 30–55. That's not students — that's business owners, the exact people who sign contracts.
The honest limitations (no sugarcoating)
I'll be straight with you, because most "Viber marketing" articles aren't:
- There's no API for parsing group members. Unlike Telegram or WhatsApp, you can't export a Viber community's participant list. We did it semi-manually, and it was slow. If someone sells you a "Viber parser," ask for a live demo first.
- Automation tooling is thin. No warmup services, no mature multi-account setups, no scheduling tools worth trusting. Everything is hands-on.
- Ban policy is opaque. Viber restricts suspicious activity without warning and without a clear appeal path. One of our two test numbers got limited after 60 messages in a day. Lesson learned: stay under 30–40 a day per number.
What actually worked for us
| Tactic | Messages | Replies | Reply rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Viber community replies (public) | 120 | 21 | 17.5% |
| Direct messages to manually collected numbers | 85 | 19 | 22% |
| Viber channel post with lead magnet | 1 post, 900 views | 14 inbound | — |
The catch? Scale. We couldn't push past ~200 messages a day without risking bans, and collection was manual. Viber is a sniper rifle, not a machine gun.
My take
Viber won't replace your main channels. But as a second or third touch — "hey, also reachable here" — it's the highest-response real estate in CIS messaging right now, precisely because nobody's there.
Honestly, most outreach tools are overpriced for what Viber needs. You don't need software. You need two SIM cards, patience, and 30 messages a day.
Is Viber really dead, or did everyone just leave the money on the table? What's the most "dead" channel that's worked for you?
