Single-Channel Outreach Is Leaving Half Your Leads on the Table
30 days, one offer, three platforms: Telegram gave volume, VK and WhatsApp gave cheaper leads. The audiences barely overlapped — here's the setup.
We ran one offer on three platforms for 30 days. The winner surprised me.
For a month we pushed the same B2B offer — automated lead generation, obviously — across Telegram, VK, and WhatsApp simultaneously. Same budget of attention, same team, same CRM. I expected Telegram to crush the other two. It didn't. Not exactly.
Here's what 30 days of running all three taught me, with the numbers to back it up.
The setup
- Telegram: 8 warmed accounts, ~40 target groups, daily posting + manual outreach
- VK: 4 accounts, 25 communities, wall posts + comments + DMs
- WhatsApp: 2 numbers, parsed group members, slow manual messaging
Results after 30 days
| Metric | Telegram | VK | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Outreach messages sent | 1,840 | 620 | 210 |
| Replies | 203 (11%) | 96 (15%) | 41 (19%) |
| Qualified leads | 34 | 22 | 11 |
| Closed deals | 5 | 4 | 2 |
| Cost per qualified lead | $18 | $11 | $9 |
The insight that changed our strategy
Here's what the averages hide: the audiences barely overlapped. When we cross-checked phone numbers, only about a third of our VK responders had active Telegram accounts. The WhatsApp crowd was almost a separate universe — older, less technical, but with bigger budgets.
Running one channel means you're not just getting fewer leads. You're getting a skewed sample — systematically missing entire segments of your market. Our Telegram-only months never reached the 45-year-old business owner who lives in VK and WhatsApp and has never installed Telegram in his life.
How we run all three now (without tripling the work)
- One contact base, keyed by phone number. Every lead from every platform lands in the same table. Duplicates merge automatically — the same person found in VK and Telegram becomes one record, not two.
- Platform priority per campaign. Default order: VK first (cheapest attention), then Telegram (volume), then WhatsApp (highest intent, lowest volume). The system messages each person once, on the highest-priority platform where they exist.
- One scoring model. A reply from any platform scores the same. A qualified lead from any platform goes to the same manager. No more "Telegram leads" vs "VK leads" tribalism in the team.
What I'd tell myself a year ago
Don't ask "which platform is best for B2B." That's the wrong question — it's like asking which fishing net catches the most fish while ignoring that different fish swim at different depths. Ask "what's my cheapest way to cover all three," then build one pipeline behind them.
