How I scaled from 5 to 50 Telegram accounts (and why I went back to 10)

3 min read

Scaled from 5 to 50 Telegram accounts. Then went back to 10. Here's why.

TL;DR: Went from 5 accounts (working great) to 50 accounts (disaster) back to 10 accounts (sweet spot). Revenue: $2K → $4K → $8K. More accounts ≠ more money.

Everyone asks "how do I scale Telegram outreach?" I'll tell you how I did it — and why scaling to 50 accounts was the worst decision I made.

Phase 1: 5 Accounts (Month 1-3)

Started with 5 self-created accounts. 15 messages/day each. Fully personalized. 75 messages/day total.

Results:

    • Response rate: 22%

    • Meetings/week: 4-5

    • Deals/month: 2-3

    • Revenue: $2,000/month

Working great. But I wanted more. "If 5 accounts give me $2K, 50 accounts should give me $20K!" Spoiler: it didn't.

Phase 2: 50 Accounts (Month 4-6)

Hired a VA. Bought 45 more accounts (mistake #1). Set up automation for all 50. Started sending 50 messages/account/day (mistake #2).

Week 1: Everything looks great. 2,500 messages sent. 150 replies. "This is amazing!"

Week 2: 30 accounts banned. Wait, what?

Week 3: Another 10 banned. The remaining accounts started getting flagged too.

Week 4: Total disaster. 40/50 accounts banned. The remaining 10 were barely functional.

What went wrong:

    • Bought accounts. 96% ban rate (as I documented in another post).

    • Too many messages too fast. 50/day/account is unsustainable. Telegram flagged the pattern.

    • Same message templates. My VA used the same 3 templates for everyone. Spam detection caught on.

    • No quality control. I wasn't reviewing messages. Some were terrible.

    • Lost personal touch. Can't maintain genuine relationships with 50 accounts simultaneously.

Phase 3: 10 Accounts (Month 7+)

Went back to basics. 10 self-created accounts. 15 messages/day each. But this time with a system:

    • Templates with personalization slots. Base structure + custom details per lead.
    • Quality review. I review every message before it sends.
    • Group engagement first. Every account is active in 3-5 groups.
    • Follow-up sequences. Automated but personalized follow-ups.

Results after 3 months at 10 accounts:

    • Response rate: 28% (up from 22%)

    • Meetings/week: 8-10 (up from 4-5)

    • Deals/month: 5-6 (up from 2-3)

    • Revenue: $8,000/month (up from $2,000)

The Math

PhaseAccountsMessages/DayRevenueCostROI
5 accounts575$2,000$200900%
50 accounts502,500$4,000$2,000100%
10 accounts10150$8,000$3502,186%

10 accounts with quality > 50 accounts with quantity. Every time.

The Lesson

Scaling isn't about more accounts. It's about:

    • Better systems. Templates, follow-ups, tracking.

    • Better targeting. Fewer groups, deeper relationships.

    • Better messaging. Higher response rate per message.

    • Better follow-up. More touches per lead.

50 messages to 50 people < 15 messages to 15 people who already know you.

Anyone else scaled and then scaled back? What was your turning point?
